Who We Are

We are the Professional Training Center of the Guayaquil Charity Board (JBG). With 137 years of service to the country, the JBG has expanded its social impact work through the creation of this center, whose objective is to offer high-quality training programs that respond to the demands of the labor market, promoting the development of practical and theoretical skills in key areas such as technology, health, sports, administration, and other strategic fields for the economic and social growth of the region and the country.

The JBG Professional Training Center currently operates in the facilities of the Santa Luisa de Marillac Educational Unit, part of the JBG Educational Network, located on Av. del Ejército and Piedrahita, in a strategic area of Guayaquil.

Our team is made up of highly qualified instructors with relevant professional experience who provide comprehensive training. In addition, we have agreements with various JBG entities that facilitate practical training and generate employment opportunities for participants in our programs.

Background

Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador, is a rapidly growing economic and business center. However, there is a significant gap between the supply of professional training programs and the demand for specific skills required by local companies, especially in the industry and health sectors.

It is important to remember that the unemployment rate among young people in Guayaquil who neither study nor work is relatively high 23.9% according to INEC (2023), which generates the need for more training opportunities that improve employability as Germany has been doing for more than 100 years, promoting trades, currently reaching a youth unemployment rate of 5.8%, the lowest in Europe after Switzerland according to Trading Economics (2024), other examples are Peru with SENATI, Brazil with SENAI, Colombia with SENA, Paraguay with the Integrated Technological Centers EFTP, are successful models worthy of contextualizing and replicating in Ecuador.

The Professional Training Center is designed to address this challenge by providing learners with the skills and competencies necessary to meet the needs of the current labor demand.

Project Objectives

1.Train competent, humane, and socially responsible professionals.

2.Offer training programs aligned with the current and future needs of the labor market, responding to the demands of the health and industrial sectors.

3.Develop a strong link between the Training Center and the main local companies to guarantee the relevance and labor insertion of the apprentices.

4.Offer third-level technological careers (higher education) with the project of creating a Higher Technological Institute that provides a response to collective needs.
